My name is Qaisar and I am a student of Class 6.

My father is a salesman and my mother a housemaid. We have always had to live in austere conditions and make do with hand-me-down clothes and shoes that my mother brought for us.

I was an under confident boy and a below average student when I came to TiEL. As the teachers in my previous school were not really bothered about my low grades, I never showed any interest in my studies either, much to my mother’s disappointment. However, affording a better school was out of the question.

One of our relatives admitted their children in The Institute of Emerging Leaders School System and seemed happy with their children’s academic and extracurricular performance. They also shared that the education was free. My parents also visited the school and decided to get me admitted at TiEL with the hope that I would do better in my studies.

During my first year at TiEL, at one of the Parent-Teacher-Meetings, I overheard my mother telling my class teacher that she was very disappointed in my academic performance and that it was all because of my obsession towards cricket. I got really upset as cricket has always been my passion.

Fortunately Ma’am Nazia Ansari, the Executive Director of our school was present at that meeting and when she heard about my mother’s grievance and my passion for cricket she called my mother for a meeting. She explained to my mother that it was great that I was into sports as in this day and age children are more inclined towards computer games and inactivity. She also told her about the importance of sports for physical development and the benefits it would bring me in life including admission in college and university on the bases of sports, career as sports teacher or a cricketer. She advised my mother to allocate time for playing cricket every evening so that I would not be disgruntled towards my studies.

Her words of encouragement gave me confidence and smoothed out the rift between my mother and I. This incident helped me a lot and I was happy to give equal time to my passion and my studies. Now I am a confident student of TiEL and participate in class activities and try my best to study well.

I want to be a renowned cricketer and make Pakistan proud!
